In 983, David Copperfield made the Statue of Liberty in New York City disappear in front of a live audience.40 years later, you can also make the Statue of Liberty disappear in front of a live audience using the 2001 New York State quarter. The New York quarter is placed in the open palm of the hand (or on a table), etc., and the statue is placed in position. The performer raises his other hand in a flat open position and covers the coin like David with a curtain. When the hand is removed, the statue portion of the coin disappears completely. It can be distributed for a complete examination. The coin is then handed back to the performer and the hand is again used to cover the coin. When his hand moves away again and miraculously disappears, the statue reappears.
