You remove 3 cards from a deck and insert a large nail through the middle of one card. You then place the cards on a table with the sharp point of the nail sticking upward. You give the spectator

3 Styrofoam cups and turn your back while instructing him or her to place the cards in any position on the table and cover all cards with the cups. You then turn around and tell the spectator that you're going to hold your hand over each cup and ask him each time if that cup hides the nail, but you instruct him that he can either tell you the TRUTH or he can LIE to you! During this intense questioning, you SLAM your hand down on two of the cups, leaving the cup with the nail untouched! No extra gimmicks needed. Everything is examinable before and after the performance.
