Concept and background

Let's go back to 1995.

At an IBM conference, Professor Finn Jon presented an incredible show: he handed the audience a bag of nails and asked them to take out any number of nails. He then retrieved the bag and placed it on a tray.

He guessed the exact number of nails in the audience's hands with amazing accuracy, leaving every magician in the audience in awe.

In the lecture that followed, Professor Finn Jon revealed the secret - summed up in one phrase: 'electronic scales'. In less technologically advanced times, Finn Jon used information about the weight of remaining fingernails to determine the amount held by the audience. This left a profound impact and spawned new principles of mind magic.

Over the next thirty years, countless magic devices based on this principle appeared and continued to evolve as technology improved. Magicians began to use programming to convert weight measurements into valuable performance data. When combined with card combinations, the effects became even more amazing.

These effects have become very powerful. Nevertheless, we discovered a deeper potential in the "trade-off" principle. After two years and three development phases, we are proud to present the PITATA Smart Scale, ready to share our innovative concept with you.

With the following classic effects:

Preset Card Sequence Mind Reading: combines the PITATA Smart Scale with a specific card sequence to read the spectator's mind. the PITATA Smart Scale recognises their cut card as well as the number of cards they have. The unit comes pre-loaded with Si Stebbins, Mnemonica and other card sequences.

Equivalent object count reading: someone selects a handful of candy or coins and the PITATA Smart Scale displays the exact amount taken.

These features represent the core purpose of the device. However, by looking more deeply into the weighing principle, we have extended the possibilities of the PITATA app to include even more imaginative effects. In addition to the features mentioned above, the application also allows:

Card order customisation: in addition to the six classic preloaded card orders, you can customise the order of your familiar cards. It's not just limited to playing cards; you can create custom Billet Stacks using objects such as fruits, animals, or locations, integrating them seamlessly into your existing mind processes.

Borrowed Objects for Mind Reading: you borrow five objects from a spectator and a spectator secretly takes one. You can identify exactly what they chose. Or, after preparing five objects, have five different audience members choose one at random, and then you can identify each choice.

Kurotsuke & Russian Roulette: Inspired by Max Maven, this classic mind-reading effect involves identifying the person who took the red ball. Using the same principle, you can replace the ball with any other object, such as the process of performing Russian Roulette. (The receiver can also be specially programmed.)

DRINK MIND READING: A creative process for PITATA where you show the audience five different drinks and they are then free to choose one to drink. After each drink, using your keen sense of taste, you can reveal exactly what specific drink the audience is drinking.

Mind Coin Prediction: Similar to drink mind reading, you prepare coins from five different countries, incorporating the fascinating stories of each country into your process. You can use techniques such as Multiple Out or indexing to predict which coin the audience will choose.

Telepathy: By placing a toy doll on the table, you seem to sense where the audience touches it.

In addition, we have organised all these effects into a reference table that provides the basis for replacing any mentioned objects with alternatives, allowing you to create a personalised flow that reflects your unique style.
