Tom Stone - Tracking Mr. Fogg
This is one of Tom's earliest and most well-known collections, as it deals with one topic, but approached from a multitude of angles: this is Tom's meditation on The Travelers routine. Some versions use signatures, others use clever sleights. Some use more cards, some use less cards. But they all build to Tom's ultimate handling of this cherished magic plot. It's a lesson in Travelers, of course, but it's really a lesson in experimenting with a plot and trying to infuse something new into something old.
Contents:
Ambivalent Travellers - An easy version for table-hopping using half cards. Republished from The Warpsmith's Toolbox.
Mr. Fogg - A version for parlour or formal close-up. ...and several unfinished handlings .
34 pages
"I was completely taken by it. No idea how at least 2 of the 4 cards got into his pockets! The construction is really brilliant."
Tommy Wonder
"All I can say about this little manuscript is that I bought it, I downloaded it , I printed it up, I read it three times last night and again today. It's one of the best things I've read in magic in a long time. Period."
Lance Pierce
"The manuscript has two of Toms routines and they are very well written and illustrated. Dai Vernons original Travelers routine from Stars of Magic: is the production of four signed cards from four of the magicians pockets. The Ambidextrous approach allows for an instant repeat. Tom tried to deal with the heat on the vanishing of the cards the first time around, and his approaches are ingenious."
Matthew Field
"After studying Tom's work on this classic plot, I was duly impressed (as usual). Tom not only thinks up this stuff, he writes, edits, and illustrates everything himself. This triple-threat creator a parallel universe where he rules with an unfettered imagination and great, creative mischief. His material, if it had been created twenty years ago, would never have been tipped, but shared by only a few privileged undergrounders. Highly recommended."
Jon Racherbaumer
"Even as I do it myself, I am quite surprised at the finale.”
Martin Lewis
"Mr. Fogg is surely a killer and has to be one of the best multiple cards to pockets routines I've encountered."
Peter Duffie
"When reading it, I thought to myself: "Sure, that's how it has to be. Why hasn't everybody done it like that for ages?"
Pit Hartling
"A clever and subtle card routine that reeks of good thought."
David Regal
"It's very strong. I saw Tom perform this at the Magic Castle, and the audience were astounded."
Pete McCabe
